About 20 years ago, I vaugly remember reading an old William and Mary
Quarterly article about Anne Cary, wife of Robert Carter Nicholas
(1728-1780). The article claimed that during the Revolutionary War she
carried papers for her husband, Robert Carter Nicholas, because he was too
ill to travel. I believe she may have successfully crossed enemy lines to
get the papers to their destination.

Anne's aunt, I think, was Sally Cary wife of George William Fairfax
(1724-1787).

I've searched my file cabinet looking for a paper copy that I may have
squirreled away, but no luck.

Any advice on where to start researching this will be very much
appreciated! Are old Wm & Mary Quarterly's online & searchable now. Fingers
& toes crossed. Or I'd just settle for the images being online.
