Ed- I would suggest the English colonists brought their anti Catholic
viewpoint with them from England, as the problems with Philip of Spain, the
wars in Holland and the Armada were only 20 years in the past when
Jamestowne was settled. I have heard that during the War of 1812 the
Episcopal church in Rappahannock county was demolished by irate residents
and the bricks used to line their priveys- I beleive it was in a
Rappahannock county history-Barrett
