The wills of Daniel McCarty (1724) and his widow Ann (Lee) McCarty (1732)
mention wedding rings; each was married twice. Ann left to her son Henry
Fitzhugh "my first wedding ring [from his father, William Fitzhugh] and my
grandfather Corbyn's mourning ring [mistakenly called 'wedding ring' by
Hayden]". From early wills, it would appear that men certainly wore rings,
including a "dyamon ring" that was the subject of a court fight around
1700, but not wedding rings.
