And to think how times change.  In the 1830s, this area was owned by  
the brothers William and James Kelley.  The latter emancipated all of  
his 47 slaves in 1854 and paid for their passage to Liberia (on the  
ship Elvira Owens).

And today, it is now a private golf and country club.
