My favorite example of getting too involved was the "official" Royal Navy
history of the War of 1812. The RN tried very hard to find a British author to
cover the history of the war with the US. But, they found that all of them
started foaming at the mouth about as soon as they even thought about the
American theatre of operations. The official British history is written by
President Theodore Roosevelt.

Are you going to Ironmasters? After the numerous appropriately curmugeonly
remarks, I'm not at all sure that you are coming.
