Dear fellow Virginia Historians-
I have learned from Winifred Evans, Emory's widow, that gifts in
memory of Emory G. Evans may be made to the McGraw-Page Library of
Randolph-Macon College designated for the acquisition of history
books. For those who might wish to remember him in this manner, the
address is:
McGraw-Page Library
Randolph-Macon College
P.O. Box 5005
204 Henry Street
Ashland, VA 23005-5005

Emory was a friend and constructive critic for many young and old
historians. We are fortunate that at least a portion of his deep
learning about the early Virginia aristocracy appeared this spring in
A Topping People. His warmth, integrity, professionalism, level-
headedness and fairness will be greatly missed.

Mick Nicholls
