Regarding the Civil War, Northern bias may have been prevalent in the 19th
century histories as well as many 20th century general histories. I would
suggest that the writings of the many excellent Southern historians such as
Shelby Foote, Emory Thomas (UGA), William C. Davis (VTech), James Robertson
(VTech) and the late Tom Connelly (USC) have striven to present balanced
views of many aspects of the war. The Southern navy's ironclad history was
also well chronicled by William Still (ECU).
