I am happy to post the following announcement from our colleagues at the University of Virginia Press:


Project Editor

The University of Virginia Press seeks a Project Editor to oversee the editorial process for 20-25 MSS a year, from MS to bound book, reporting to the Managing Editor. Tasks include editing; proofreading; preparing MSS for freelance copyeditors and evaluating their work; preparing detailed instructions and reports; and acting as editorial liaison with authors, vendors, and other Press departments.
         Qualifications: M.A. in humanities field required (B.A. and significant experience may be substituted in lieu of M.A.), with significant book-editing experience; excellent editing and communication skills, including in electronic editing; close knowledge of CMS; experience overseeing multiple projects at various stages; facility with Word/WordPerfect. Knowledge of American history and familiarity with a major European language preferred.
