By 31 patents & grants, Nicholas Davies obtained about 40,000 acres
of land in northeast Bedford County and in western Amherst. Nearby
three large tracts were granted to a 6-man consortium which adjacent
property holders referred to as "Fry and Company". The lines of these
and many other tracts have been approximately located. Maps and an
