Not sure I've tapped into the right message board, but here goes:

In attempting to transcribe letter from CSA soldier to his sister in New
Orleans, I have one sentence that will NOT come clear.  Any ideas much
appreciated.  The sentence in question:

" I hope to be with you someday soon if the fauksokutters do not get in;
there are plenty of them in ????? 50 miles from us."

 I imagine it may be some vile word in reference to Yankees. I've never seen
it before and have wracked my brain over it.  I've broken the word down and
still can't make sense of it.  When I went to UNC I looked specifically at
fauksokutters.  In the original, it was spelled just like that.
