Thank you very much for directing me to the censuses. I looked at them
briefly and decided to wait until I could go over them more
thoroughly--which I will do as soon as I sent this off to you.
I wanted to see if I could answer your question about Piersey's Hundred. I
am interested in Nicholas Bailey who was listed there, so had a personal
reason to establish the location. I have spent some time in Cavaliers &
Pioneers, Vol. 1 and think from what I found that it was indeed near your
Baugh's land. Here are the references:
p. 81. Grant to Charles Magner, Planter, of Flowerde hundred unto
William Hayward, Gent. of Cawsys Cleere . . . 650 acres upon Appamattock
Riv. and Swift Cr. 1634.
p. 60. Grant to Mary Box . . . 300 acs. upon the Swifte Cr. by
Appamatuck Riv. near the land of Charles Magnor, now in possession of
William Hayward . . . ." 1637
p. 136-137. Grant to William Hayward for 780 acres. Oct 16, 1642
mentions the land is bounded on south by Appamattucke Towne & N. upon Swift
Cr. "The residue being marsh before the plantation of sd. Hayward & Commonly
called the Conjurers Feild, beg. where land of Mr. John Baugh endeth. Swift
Cr. parts this from land formerly belonging to Samuell Sharp. 650 acs. due
by deed of sale from Charles Magnor, Feb. 8, 1634, to whom it was granted
Dec. 1, 1620. " [Samuel Sharp and Charles Magner are both listed in the
muster at Peirsey's Hundred. [The MUSTER says Charles Magner is 16 years in
January 1624/25 and that he had come in the George in 1623. It appears the
grant is wrong. It is doubtful that he would have been granted land 3 years
before he arrived, and at age 11 years. It was probably granted in 1630
instead of 1620.]
If you run across anything on Nicholas Bailey, please let me know. He
disappears from the face of the earth after the MUSTER. Maybe he actually
did . . . like many others of the period.

There is at the VA Genweb's archives a list that has for a number of ships
the above information. It purports to be a 1624 census, but is NOT a
duplicate of the names by any means in the alphabetized version of the
1623/4
census by hundres -- the "Living & Dead" Census -- , also there. (see URLS
for all three below). They overlap, but there are some on this other list
that aren't on the "Living and Dead" census., even though the one organized
by ship is said to be based on the 1623/4 census.
In fact I just discovered I had downloaded this "1624" ship list/census and
was about to ask about it (and almost deleted it because I thought it was a
duplicate).

It appears to have been possibly cut off as the last ship is the Swann, and
I
don't see several people, like Thomas Baugh who I know were on the Supply
and
are on the other versions of the census. It also has some geographic
locations, such as Piersleys Hundred , I assume Abraham Piercey's domain,
that aren't on the other version.

Can any of you confirm that Piersleys Hundred, mentioned in the version
organized by ship, would have been on Abraham Piercey's patent on the North
Side of the Appomattox on the River, bordering both sides of Ashton
Creek/Ashen Swamp, that was later taken up by John Baugh in 1638, and parts
of which east of the swamp now lie in Point of Rocks Park.
