The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar is receiving
applications for the position Education Assistant.  The Center opened in
2006 and interprets the Civil War era-and its legacy-from  Northern,
Southern and African-American perspectives. 

The Education Assistant coordinates the administration of the group
education program and participates in the creation, design and
presentation of the department's offerings.  These programs include
gallery tours, on- and off-site programming and teacher workshops.  

Qualifications:
Required
*             Two years experience presenting programs at a museum or
historic site setting, or three years of classroom teaching experience.
*             Proficiency in Virginia and National Standards of
Learning.
*             Bachelors degree in relevant field.
*             Possess outstanding verbal and college graduate-level
written communications skills.
*             Competence with Microsoft Office Suite.
*             Extensive knowledge of nineteenth-century American social
and Civil War history developed through formal education, professional
experience or personal study.
*             Ability to work independently, have strong organizational
skills, an eye for detail and work a flexible schedule.  

Desired
*             A minimum of three years experience presenting programs at
a museum or historic site setting, or classroom teaching experience.
*             Master's degree in relevant field.
*             Previous grant writing and lesson plan development
experience.
*             Competence with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and/or
Project.
