This law not only effected African Americans but also discriminated against
the people of the Monocan Tribe of Amherst County. Some family researchers
on genealogy Facebook pages have shared how their great grandparents hid
the fact that one of them was a Monocan because the other was white. Very
sad and difficult time for many in the Old Dominion.
