WHATCHA GONNA DO WHILE RELIC IS CLOSED??

We reported last month that Bull Run Library and RELIC will be closed for two weeks in December, from the 4th to at least the 18th, while new carpeting is being installed. If you were planning on visiting us during that time, we can suggest a few alternatives to keep your research on track without being here in person:

· On RELIC’s website, study our research pathfinders (including Roots in Prince William), many resource links, and our local newspaper index.

http://www.pwcgov.org/library/relic

· Use our Digital Library to answer many questions related to Prince William County history and genealogy. This online resource includes a variety of local records, databases of historic sites, vital records, maps, photos, and early Prince William newspapers. http://eservice.pwcgov.org/library/digitalLibrary/

· With your Prince William library card, access important subscription services (“Premium Sites”) from your home, including HeritageQuest Online, America’s Obituaries and Death Notices, Civil War in Words and Deeds, The Washington Post and New York Times historical newspapers, A to Z Databases (business and people directories), JSTOR (scholarly journals).

http://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/library/pages/premiumsites-subjects.aspx#news

· Visit our other library branches to access Ancestry Library Edition in-house.

· Use Ron Turner’s website for access to his huge collection of Prince William documents, sites and structures, tax lists, photos, and cemetery data.

http://www.pwcvirginia.com

· Use Historic Prince William’s website for news of Prince William history, backfiles of the historic newsletter Brentsville Neighbors, a large group of historic maps, information about schools, cemeteries, and a wide variety of links.

· Organize and analyze what you have already collected, and plan what you intend to search for the next time you visit RELIC.
