Mr. Forsythe's remarks are *absolutely* true, and
*very* eloquently stated. Thanks for making
them!

I realize this topic is not Va. History per se,
but since several NHPRC supported documentary
projects focus on subjects from Virginia
(including Washington, Jefferson, Madison), and
since Virginia Congressman Frank R. Wolf sits
on the appropriations subcommittee overseeing the
NHPRC, I'll take the liberty to add that we have
never met a member of Congress (or an aide) of
any political party who did not fall in love with
the NHPRC and with documentary editions when
introduced to them. The problem, of course, as
Harold indicated, is that members of both
Congress and presidential administrations have
much greater (and more expensive) priorities. It
is always a struggle when you are smaller than a
gnat on their radar screen, but we have
discovered that respectful letters written from
constituents and scholars do make an impact, and
that every letter counts.

Thanks to everyone who helps.
