That sounds great. But let me put an oar into the water for do-it-yourself
projects. My wife and I made a decision a couple years ago to digitize as
much as we can of our family historical documents. We have done upwards of
4 GB of data and music to date. Documents are all in .PDF and music in MP3.
Examples:

- Military Records of my father from 1918 until he retired in 1953
- Growing up in WWII - My memories of Virginia Beach and Norfolk
- Mary Kay and Randy - The early years (on the occasion of our 50th wedding
anniversary)
- The Cabells and Yorktown 1981
- The Civil War as it affected Capt. Hugh Holmes and Sally Galleher McGuire
etc. etc.

While it is great to have a conference of learned and responsible minds on
preserving our heritage, my point is that there is a heck of a lot going on
out there under the radar with no guidance (or interest) on the part of any
any such group. Long live grass-roots efforts!
