Everyone:

I will be presenting a reading & signing from my book, Notes And Documents
of Free
Persons of Color, in August. If anyone is interested in attending, it will
be at the Central Rappahannock Library in Fredericksburg. This is my first
Reading & Signing in Virginia, which is curious, since most of the events I
write about take place in Colonial Virginia.

WHO:
Anita Wills, Author

WHEN:
On August 11, 2005

WHERE:
Central Rappahannock Library
1201 Caroline Street
Fredericksburg Virginia

We will have a reception beginning at 5:00 pm, and the
reading will start at 6:00 pm, followed by a
discussion and book signing.

EXHIBIT:

There is also an exhibit in Richmond titled, "African
Americans at Rocketts Landing."

The exhibit is one of two built-in cases in the lobby of the Old State
Library Building situated on the Northeast corner of Capital Square, Broad
and
Governor St.--entrance in Capitol Square facing the Governor's Mansion. One
case
contains kitchen artifacts recovered in 1998 when they were doing the
renovation
of the Governor's Mansion; and the other is the case on the excavation of
Rocketts Landing. The Exhibit is in the Lobby of the Patrick
Henry Building, at The Capital Rotunda. I do not know the details of how to
see
the Exhibit, but the curator is Melba Myers, 804- 367-2323 Ext: 130, of the
Virginia Historical
Resources Office.

There is an article scheduled to run this fall, in the Virginia History
Magazine. The article gives the history of Rocketts Landing, and background
information on Charles Lewis.

Please feel free to contact me privately with any questions.
