Doug, interesting observations. Would growing up with "fear of God" 
necessarily mean baptism? As in later decades, one could envision religious 
instruction that does not lead all the way to the sacraments. The existence 
of godparents, however does indicate baptism as they woud be the ones to 
lead the convert to the font.
