Note that you can not only search the Virginia Gazette but the
transcribed York County inventories, the Colonial Williamsburg
Research reports and the Colonial Williamsburg Research Division
publications all at once by going to www.pastportal.org. Click on the
magnifying glass to search all of the databases at once, or browse by
clicking the book. I find the former method more productive--just
type in the word or phrase you want (for help, click on "Search Tips")
and click "Search," confirm this is what you want on the next screen,
and you'll be presented with links that contain the word or phrase
you're searching for.

It can take some time to go through them all--but Past Portal is an
invaluable source for studying 18th century Tidewater Virginia
history, material culture and architecture.

Going to the link given by Dr. Kukla will also take you to links to
other CW databases that should prove useful in many research areas.
