As the topic of Smithfield Ham, etc. has excited a seemingly endless
array of reflections on food in the South, I thought I'd direct folks to
the Southern Foodways Alliance, an organization based in Oxford,
Mississippi, which documents food traditions and the cultures that
inform (and are informed by) them. Attached is the link to their
