Eric - Can you provide any more information about this paper? For
instance is "Sentinel" the exact title as it appeared on the masthead? I
have tried an OCLC search and searched our catalog without any success.

Unfortunately many of the early Black papers have disappeared because no
one saved any issues.

I would be very interested to know if you find any copies of this paper
and where they are.

I will forward your request to a colleague with the Virginia Newspaper
Project. Perhaps she can help you. There are are film archives of
African American newspapers that the library of Congress filmed some
years ago. You might try that avenue. I believe we have cataloged all of
the Va. titles in the LC series so it should appear in our catalog if
so.

Good luck with your search.

Subject: The Sentinel, published in Richmond, VA in late 1930s

I'm looking for copies of the Sentinel, a "Labor-news weekly," that
became the unofficial paper for African American tobacco workers in
Richmond during the early CIO period (1937- 1940).

If you know any information about this paper, or have recommendations
for other sources, please contact me.

Thanks in advance,
