Contents of the April 2005 issue include:

* Prince William County Sheriffs, 1731-1904, by Tish Como. More
than a list of local office holders, this is a history of the office of
sheriff in Virginia and how it evolved, with all its privileges and
responsibilities.

*        The Beginnings of Greenwich - a 1796 advertisement extolling a
neighborhood in western Prince William County.

* Dumfries District Court Land Causes, 1793-1811 (continued), by
William M. Balderson Jr. Continuing the case of McDaniel vs. Dunlop.
Includes a previously unpublished letter from Senator William Grayson.

* How Old Was She? The Mystery of Chloe Ashby, by Donald L.
Wilson. The tale of a freed woman from Dumfries who claimed to have
cooked for George Washington and to have lived to age 116.

* Death Records from Prince William County Estate Files, ca.
1913-1938, by Ronald R. Turner. Part one, surnames A - Hall.
