Correction:

Make that 10,000 plants allowed per householder, plus 6,000 per tithable.
Still, the figures are in the same ball park as those in GW's papers,
which suggest average tobacco output of ca. 10,000 hills (plants) per
slave. And remember, the 1720s figures were quotas intended to lower
output to a level well below what was physically possible (to raise
prices).
