Will you be sending out an announcement of the article's release? I have access to the journal through my institution (where I too am emeritus), and I'd be happy to see it there.

Subject: [VA-HIST] Jefferson on Black Education

Several years ago I raised on the list a question about Jefferson’s use of the phrase “all the free children” in terms of whether he supported some basic education for free black children.
The resulting comments were very helpful to me in writing a short article that has now appeared on line in a pre-print (and with errors I corrected in proof uncorrected!) and which should appear, I’m told, in print in the spring.

At that time it should be available too on line through library subscriptions, but in the meantime I’m appalled at what it would cost to read currently—I assure you it’s not worth the price! (I would feel differently, of course, if I got any part of that money…...but I don't)
Anyway, I’m told I will be able to offer a limited number of people free access to the piece when it does appear in print; if you don’t have access through a library and would like that free access next spring, just drop me a line.

Have we got a college? Have we got a football team?....Well, we can't afford both. Tomorrow we start tearing down the college. --Groucho Marx, in "Horse Feathers."
