Yes I have. In fact, this Saturday I was able to get to the library for a long session of lookups in City Directories and Property Assessments and using that to dig further at home on Ancestry.com.

I was able to discover that the Wills House at 707-1/2 N 30th was built before 1820 while the land was purchased by Charles Wills in 1809. Since this part of the city called Shed Town then was part of Henrico County before being annexed, they do not have property records prior to 1820 to zero in better (anything else to search?)

It was last owned from what I can see by a Julius C. "J.C." Siewers and wife Mary A. She was willed the house in 1937 and was rented out from 1926-1961 to James A. Jones and wife Elva L. (née Campbell) Jones.

he house was demolished in 1961 to make way for a 8-unit cinderblock apartment building owned by Linhaven Court, Inc. (was that the name of the complex?). But that too was demolished in 1978 for the urban project and ranch style homes built there in 1981. The property lots were resized then so where the 707-1/2 house sat is now where 703 N 30th is. The 1/2 address designation is odd because it is not a divided house but stand alone. There was a later Victorian duplex numbered 705-707 next door and possibly when they redid the street numbering the small brick house was on shared property? I did note in one tax assessment that the duplex came with 30-parcels of land.

Also the small old house as of 1956 still used gas lighting and had outdoor plumbing. It was small, 2-stories with only 2 rooms per floor.

If anyone can add to this?

Thanks!
Eric

Is it safe to assume you looked at WPA inventories of significant homes etc?
