There is an interesting article in the Summer 2007 Drumbeat (Sons of the  
Revolution) on the role of two Fairfax County, Virginia ministers in  getting the 
Revolution started: Townshend Dade, Jr. and Lee Massey.  It  includes the 
text of a letter to these two parish rectors from George Washington  asking them 
to announce a meeting of "importance to the cause of independence"  from their 
pulpits.
