I just became aware of another theory about the Lost Colony after
reading Roanoke: Solving the Mystery of the Lost Colony by Lee
Miller. She argues that the the Lost Colony was sabotaged by
Raleigh's political opponents in Elizabeth I's court, and that the
colonists were either killed or taken captive as a result of inter-
tribal warfare. If true, the war could certainly have been brought
about or exacerbated by the drought.
