Went to the state library this Saturday and did some research. Looked
to see what newspapers were published in Richmond 1820 and not much
available on microfilm.

I did find one that listed deaths and even a couple of months listed
mortality charts which reflected something like 40 deaths and only 5
obituaries found. For a while they were seen almost daily then stopped
for months. Found nothing for Capt Charles Wills. I am wondering since
he was a merchant and newspapers here didn't really lists deaths if that
is why his wife shows up in a New York merchant publication saying she
died in Richmond 1826?

As far as the namesake son who was Henrico Deputy Clerk and died 1839, I
see the was a secretary in 1834 but by 1835 was seen as Charles Wills
D.C. on many various Henrico documents registered.

Eric
