Slavery is not just an issue of power and economics, it is also an issue of
morality. The morality along with the human and civil rights issues of
slavery fulfill the meanings of the rights promised in our Declaration of
Independence from England.

The issue started when the southern states bullied the rest of the states
into a 3/5 compromise on the humanity of those held in bondage. The rest
was downhill from there.
