This interdisciplinary conference provides a forum for dialogue among educators, scholars, students, and community members engaged in the study of the Underground Railroad (UGRR). Papers are invited that identify and call attention to the broad scope of the Underground Railroad movement and its impact and present-day legacy in America and the world. Appropriate papers might address--but are not limited to--slavery, abolitionism, the Native-American involvement, UGRR research, the UGRR as an international movement, and UGRR curricular development. That is, we are looking for papers that will help to lay out the boundary and define the content of UGRR studies. One-page abstracts or completed papers should be submitted by March 31, 2003.
