Clementina Rind (ca. 1740-25 September 1774) took over and published one
of Williamsburg's Virginia Gazettes after the death of her husband,
printer William Rind, in 1773. There are entries on her in American
National Biography, in Notable American Women, in Biographical
Dictionary of American Journalism, in volume 1 of Journalism History
(1974 or 1975), and also in Martha J. King's doctoral dissertation,
"Making an Impression: Women Printers of the Southern Colonies,
1767-1797" (William and Mary, 1992). King gave a paper on Rind at a
Southern Historical Asscociation annual convention several years ago.
