Earlier ,a subscriber asked whether there is a New England counterpart
to Va-Hist.

H-Net (the Humanities Network) sponsors several state electronic
discussion groups as well as discussion groups devoted to specific
subject specialties, such as early American history or Southern history.
Check out the list of discussion groups at http://www.h-net.org/

Roots-L and the USGenWeb project also sponsor quite a few electronic
discussion lists for genealogical research, and they can be very useful
rosources for obtaining information about local laws and customs and
research resources.
