Nethers was right up against the northeastern line of Madison County and
still shown on the USGS map of 1957 (compiled 1955).  It's also in Ray O.
Hummel, Jr.'s, "A List of Places Included in 19th Century Virginia
Directories," for Madison County, as listed in Chataigne's 1888-89 Virginia
State Gazeteer and Business Directory.

Looks like a bit of a hike to Sperryville--your mailmen must be tough.
