Wage Salary: $14.50hr
(40 hours, no benefits)

The Publications and Educational Services Branch of the Library of
Virginia seeks an experienced researcher in American history sources to
serve as Research Associate for the Dictionary of Virginia Biography
project. The research associate will conduct research in primary and
secondary sources to assist in evaluating and selecting biographies for
inclusion in the multivolume reference work; supplement research and
assemble information packets for outside contributors; research and
write biographies; and assist in checking facts, indexing, and proofing.

Qualifications
*       Comprehensive knowledge of Virginia and American history,
research methodologies, and resources. 
*       Knowledge of the principles and techniques of scholarly
historical writing and publishing. 
*       Wide-ranging experience researching in primary and secondary
sources.
*       Excellent research, writing, communication, organization, and
interpersonal skills.
*       Excellent attention to detail.
*       Skill in word processing and Internet research. 
*       Demonstrated ability to organize multiple tasks and manage time
efficiently. 
*       Ability to work independently and as a team member.
*       Experience in scholarly writing, scholarly editing, and
scholarly publishing preferred.
*       Graduate degree in history or other appropriate field of the
humanities preferred. 
*       An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
may substitute.
