I'm not sure what I am - a Southerner by family who has lived most of his
adult life in Northern Virginia. So much of the mid-Atlantic seems well
defined by colonial history and heritage and so undefined afterwards. There
are obviously major exceptions to this and I hope nobody took my observations
as a slight upon themselves. You raised an excellent area for study.
