Hello,

I was looking at some invoices from 1760 for
a tailor. Among the items mentioned was
bareskin. The billing was for bareskin
suits. What is bareskin? This was in
Tidewater VA on the James River. Are we
talking bear skins, skins of animals with the

hair off, a specific type of skin processing
giving it a name, a cloth? Too little info,
too many possibilities. I've done an Internet

Search on google and the search engine turned

up a whole lot of stuff which I am reasonably

sure had little to do with what I wanted to
know!

Lyle
