Agnes Evans Gish,  _Virginia Taverns, Ordinaries, and Coffee Houses:
18th-Early 19th Century Entertainment along the Buckingham Road_
(Westminster, Md : Willow Bend Books, 2005) contains some good
information on roads and stage coaches interspersed among quite a bit of
other interesting information on taverns and the like.
