Looking further I find that some run Shed Town between 29th and 32nd
Streets. Others say a 4-block area North of Leigh, which doesn't make
much sense to call a 4-block area a "township"?

Another reference eludes that the reason there is little on Church Hill
North is because it was isolated from the rest of the area by design
(roads access). Not sure about that or more along the lines of
demographics since many free blacks lived in that area after the Civil
War?

Eric

I too am interested in that area. Genealogical research has led me to
the area of 19th (extended) to about 23rd. Contemporary maps don't have
much detail and it seems to be an area of Irish and German immigrant
laborers and craftspeople (my ancestors found in census between 1820 and
1900. The Lunatic Asylum was located slightly north of there. Some
maps seem to note parts of that area as belonging to Union Hill.
