I have just inherited 50 years of the Cabell Foundation's scrapbooks. All 10 or the scrapbooks need indexing.

Is there some simple (AKA inexpensive) software that one can use to build an index. I assume the key fields are:
--Name of the Item
--Category of the Item
--Date the was generated
--Who/how it was generated
--Names of people associated with it
--Document ID
and the inevitable
--Notes

In addition, do some such programs allow you to generate PDF files with the images you are indexing?

I use Alpha-5 for all my data base work, but there may be something better which is designed specifically for indexing. I have used ACCESS for one data-base application and never want to see that product again, so please do not suggest it.
