Organization Description

The Congregation Beth Ahabah Museum & Archives (BAMA) collects, preserves
and exhibits the history and culture of Richmond's Jewish community.

The Museum was established in 1977 to gather and preserve the existing
records, documents and artifacts concerning Kahal Kadosh Beth Shalome and
Congregation Beth Ahabah, as well as documents essential to understanding
the Richmond, Virginia and Southern Jewish experience. The Museum and
Archives features four galleries of changing exhibits

almost 1500 visitors annually, and the museum's archival research center
receives inquiries from around the world.

Position Summary

The Executive Director of the Beth Ahabah Museum and Archives is responsible
to the Board of Trustees for operations of the organization, including
collections management, programs, exhibitions, public relations, fund
development and fiscal management.  The Executive Director supervises museum
staff, volunteers and student interns.  The Executive Director coordinates
museum activities with the Board of Trustees as well as Congregation Beth
Ahabah's staff, Board of Managers and the congregation.  The Executive
Director represents the Beth Ahabah Museum and Archives, and, by extension,
Congregation Beth Ahabah on the local, state and national levels.


Qualifications and Experience

* Bachelor's degree required.  Advanced degree in related
field desirable.
* Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication
skills
* Knowledge or experience in related settings desirable
* Experience with non-profit organizations
* Demonstrated management skills in program development,
public relations, marketing, fund development and fiscal management
* Familiarity with Jewish culture desirable

This position is part-time, approximately 25 hours per week.

Salary negotiable.
