"The crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with
blood."

                                                            -John Brown,
December 2, 1859.

Join us at the Library of Virginia on Tuesday, October 18 from Noon-1PM.

R. Thomas Crew Jr., a senior reference archivist at the Library of
Virginia, will discuss the Library's extensive archival holdings
documenting John Brown's raid at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. Brown's
actions forced many Americans to confront moral and political questions
about slavery, human rights, and states' rights.
