Hi,
 This is ironic that you mentioned this. Very recently when going through some
Richmond city newspapers of the early 1900's I saw where there were many
advertisemnts from African-American businesses who were helping to support the
Virginia State Fair for blacks. So the African-American community apprently had
their own state fair for awhile.
