Sarah Johnson’s Mount Vernon by Scott E. Casper

Scott E. Casper will discuss and sign his new book recounting the lives of 
those African Americans who lived at Mount Vernon, focusing on Sarah 
Johnson, who spent more than 50 years there, both as a slave and as a free 
woman. Sarah Johnson's Mount Vernon: The Forgotten History of an American 
Shrine offers an intimate view of George Washington’s estate during the 19th 
and early 20th centuries.

The Library of Virginia is located at 800 East Broad Street in downtown 
Richmond.  A limited amount of free parking is available under the building.
