Library Development Assistant Director
Position #6
Library Manager - Band 6
Salary Minimum: $49,473

The Library of Virginia is seeking an experienced administrator to
assist in managing the development and implementation of programs and
services for public and other libraries in Virginia.  The position of
Assistant Director, Library Development and Networking administers a
state aid program currently in excess of $16.5M and the LSTA program of
$3M+.  Directly supervising consultants for children/YA and public
libraries, the position also includes responsibility for providing
timely and accurate information services including grants, continuing
education and training.  Travel and presentations to library boards and
boards of supervisors are common.  

Qualifications
*       Graduation from an ALA accredited university with a Master's
Degree in Library Science.
*       Eligible for Virginia Professional Librarian Certificate.
*       Progressively responsible professional library experience, in a
public library preferred.
*       Knowledge of library management and information services/access
in libraries.
*       Knowledge of trends in library services.
*       Knowledge of techniques in planning, implementing, and
evaluating library services and programs.
*       Knowledge of the principles, practices, and policies of public
management including fiscal.
*       Ability to conduct research.
*       Ability to plan and conduct programs.
*       Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
*       Ability to work in teams internally and externally
*       Ability to use computers and standard applications in the modern
office environment.
*       Ability to work independently.
*       Ability to travel.
*       Must have a valid Virginia driver's license.
*       Must pass a security background check.

Continuing Education Consultant
Position #90
Library Specialist III - Band 5
Salary Minimum: $41,000

The Library of Virginia is seeking an experienced Continuing Education
Consultant to assure the development and implementation of high quality
programs and services for public library staff in Virginia.
Responsibilities include assisting in statewide needs analysis, identify
competencies, develop plan to address needs and work to implement the
plan for all staff levels.  Duties include creating and conducting
training sessions, procuring outside training, marketing and promoting
CE events to appropriate audiences.  The consultant will provide Outcome
Based Evaluation for annual LSTA report and statistics for departmental
reports and maintain continuing education pages on the Virginia Public
Library Extranet including links for online and distance education
courses.  The consultant will manage the professional librarian
certification program.

*       Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
*       Ability to work in teams internally and externally.
*       Ability to use computers and standard applications in the modern
office environment.
*       Ability to work independently.
*       Ability to travel.
*       Must have a valid Virginia driver's license.
