Al,For women in early 20th century Virginia, see Elna C. Green, _Southern
Strategies: Southern Women and the Woman Suffrage Question_ (University of
North Carolina Press, 1997), especially Chapter 7 that examines Virginia as
a case study for state suffrage campaigns.
