Came to an interesting piece of a story in "An Imperfect God" this evening.
It seems that when Washington was stationed in Boston, he was sent a very
flattering poem written by Phyllis Wheatley, written in the style of Cato, a
favorite of Washinton's. An absolutely delightful poem! Washington was also
impressed by it, and wrote her inviting her to his headquarters. I seems
uncertain if she did visit, but there are some suggestions she made a
half-hour visit and that Martha was there at the time.

Can anyone shed any more light on this possible meeting? Seems like a good
story for children.

Anne
