Scott Bakula stars as Charlie Anderson. Don't know why the Ford's website (excerpted below) doesn't say that. -- Rosanna Bencoach

We will conclude our season with the American classic musical Shenandoah, with music by Gary Geld, lyrics by Peter Udell, and book by James Lee Barrett, Peter Udell and Philip Rose. This rousing and powerful musical was based on the movie of the same title starring James Stewart and ran for more than 1,000 performances on Broadway in 1975. Charlie Anderson, a successful farmer in the Shenandoah Valley, has managed to keep his daughter and six sons out of the Civil War by refusing to get involved in the South’s struggle. As the war comes to an end, however, it becomes harder for the Anderson family to remain isolated from the violence that surrounds them. It is when his youngest son, mistaken for a rebel soldier, is taken prisoner by Yankees, that Anderson must finally confront the War he fought so hard to avoid. Jeff Calhoun, who created last season’s smash hit Big River, returns to Ford’s to direct and choreograph this splendid work of the American musical theatre.
