All my ancestors from Tennessee and North Georgia fought for the Union,
except one of three brothers from north Georgia who was captured. He died
in prison in Indiana. His two brothers were "enlisted" in the Confederate
Army and sometime later found in the Union Army. Obviously they changed
sides and perhaps accounts for their abscence from family records in
Georgia after the war. They next appear far out west, and seems to re-
inforce the notion if you fought for the Union Army, you might not have a
welcome home if from the South.
