But if you want a spoof of modern Williamsburg (Linda Rowe, you may wish
to turn off your machine now) that only superficially resembles an
authentic text but obviously isn't, you can't do better than Robert
Manson Myers' hard-to-find "Restoration Comedy: Being a Brief & True
Account of the Adventures of David Carter Pencible, Esq. in Kingsburg,
Virginia, during National Restoration Week in May, by a Gentleman of
Virginia" (Richmond, Dietz Press, 1961).

Yes, It's a fake apparently done for a private party that has now found
its way into some bookstores and other outlets. It's a knock-off based
on Ranger's Impartial List of the Ladies of Pleasure in Edinburgh,
originally published in 1775 which is the real thing.
