It's time to write that book. Somebody had to start somewhere, and south of Broad (and a bit north of Broad) was probably chosen because 
of the wide variety of styles of architecture. There is a lot more in addition to "Shed Town."

Eric, 

You asked an excellent question. There is a reference to Shed Town in my VCU MA thesis on Geroge Winston. The Thesis is titled "The Building Career of George Winston (1759-1826)". George Winston owned and sold many acres of Shed Town. He built a house there which I cataloged in my thesis.
